What a Custom Mudroom System Includes
Each family member gets their own dedicated space — hooks above, cubby or cabinet below. Backpacks, bags, jackets, sports gear, all in one assigned spot. The “where’s my stuff?” conversation gets significantly shorter.
A built-in bench is functional on its own (somewhere to sit when putting on shoes). With under-bench storage — drawers or lift-top compartments — it doubles as dedicated shoe or gear storage.
Cabinet section above the bench and locker zone for items that don’t need daily access. Seasonal gear, extra supplies, cleaning products for the entry area — out of sight, actually accessible.
Mounted at functional heights for adults and lower for kids. Coats, bags, hats, leashes — specific hooks prevent the pile-on-the-floor situation that undoes every other organizing effort.
Open cubbies, angled shoe shelves, or enclosed shoe drawers. Florida homes see a lot of shoes at the door year-round. We plan for the real volume — not an optimistic estimate.

Design Options for Florida Entryways
Mudrooms in Florida look different from mudrooms up North. Lighter finishes work better with Florida interiors and natural light. Materials that don’t retain moisture matter — even in air-conditioned entryways, doors open frequently in humid conditions. We spec accordingly. Style-wise, we build from clean contemporary locker systems to traditional shaker-style entry cabinetry. Whatever fits the home’s existing aesthetic. And we can coordinate finish and hardware with other Able Closets work already in your home.
